SQS Embrace Safety Culture with UK Power Networks
“Stay Safe – Think, Feel, Act” Training
On Monday 27th October 2025, a group of eleven SQS apprentices took part in the UK Power Networks Stay Safe – Think, Feel, Act training session, held at the SQS Scratchwood Depot. This initiative, rolled out by UKPN across its entire network and supply chain, aims to strengthen safety awareness, promote positive behaviours, and reinforce the shared responsibility every worker has in maintaining a safe working environment.
With SQS recently enrolling its new apprentices onto the Level 2 Diploma in Highways Maintenance, this training provided the perfect opportunity to instil core health and safety values from the outset of their careers. The session focused not only on compliance and awareness but also on the emotional and behavioural aspects of safety — how our attitudes, reactions, and decisions can directly influence outcomes on site.
The engaging session was expertly delivered and brought the principles of safety culture to life. The trainers interactive style encouraged the apprentices to reflect on their personal role in creating a safe workplace and to recognise how “thinking, feeling, and acting” safely can prevent incidents before they happen.
Feedback from participants was overwhelmingly positive, with apprentices commenting on how the session opened their eyes to the wider impact of individual behaviour and teamwork in maintaining safety standards.
The trainer commended the SQS team, saying it was “the most friendly and welcoming depot and group of people” he had encountered while delivering this training on behalf of UKPN — a testament to SQS’s inclusive culture and ongoing commitment to learning and safety excellence.
