Established in 1996 by Maurice and Katrina O’Connor, SQS is a family firm that has grown into a leading utility solutions provider in London, the Home Counties and the South East.
With an in-depth knowledge of reinstatement and surfacing works we have continued to expand our capabilities and now offer a full range of utility services including civils works, excavation, project management and turnkey projects.
Our aggregates and material recycling capabilities and industry leading Ontrack management system support our self-delivery model, meaning we are able to respond rapidly to changing needs and provide a trusted end-to-end service that keeps our clients and their customers on the road to success.
Repair & Maintenance
When the streets, footways, verges and private property are dug up to repair a pipe, cable
or other equipment, SQS are responsible for the reinstatement. This involves filling the excavations and laying a top surface which matches the surrounding.
By its very nature, many R&M jobs are reactive needing an organisation which can quickly respond and complete works to a high quality.
New Connections
Often private households, commercial users and housing developers require new utility services to be connected. This usually involves digging up existing drives, footpaths and roadways to allow the new connections to be made. SQS are then called in to fill the trenches and reinstate the surfaces back to original – whatever type they are.
Mains Lay
Utility companies are spending heavily renewing outdated infrastructure, particularly with gas and water. These huge projects can involve digging along whole streets and can cause immense disruption if not managed properly. SQS specialise in quickly and efficiently returning the street to normal, restoring the surfaces and cleaning the area as the work progresses.
Road Resurfacing
SQS provide a full road and footpath laying service. Our works vary from a small footway to large projects working through the night to repair and lay parts of the M25 and other motorways.
Our own transport and plant means that resources can be deployed quickly to most locations and we work to minimise the disruption to the public at all times.
Consequential Damage
When a major utilities incident such as a burst water main occurs the disruption can be huge. Once the source of the problem has been identified and the pipework fixed a major clear up and reinstatement task is left.
SQS have a specialist team with many years experience in dealing with these challenging situations. Operatives work 24/7 to restore everything.
Clean Up
SQS have clean-up teams who provide sweeper and wash-down services to its clients. Often, as a result of utilities works, the roads, footpaths and verges are dirty and damaged. Our teams work to remove the soil and water leaving a clean environment behind. We go the extra mile to ensure that our sites are left cleaner, tidier and better.
Excavation
SQS have experience of excavation to support both fault repair and mains replacement programmes. Using both direct and, where necessary, specialist sub-contract teams, SQS can provide a variety of services including techniques such as vacuum excavation. Experience includes link box replacement, metering and lead pipe replacement.
Civil Schemes
We engage with local authorities and large civil engineering contractors to provide services to bespoke projects. Some examples of these include renewing paving across a whole town centre scheme, installing speed humps in a residential area and building traffic islands to support road infrastructure work.
Private
Using our expertise in delivering high quality services to utilities and local authorities, we carry out projects at business premises, car parks, clubs, housing associations and for private householders. We welcome enquiries for one-off projects and ad-hoc works. We can quickly provide a quotation on request. See also our Private & Commercial works page.
At SQS we understand how important it is for utility companies to restore their essential gas, water or electric services to customers as quickly as possible following an unplanned interruption to supply.
We also know how important it is for commuters and local communities that road closures are lifted as soon as possible to get traffic flowing again. That is why we pride ourselves on our speed of response and ability to provide a high quality emergency roadway reinstatement service 24/7.
