Description

Stanmore Quality Surfacing Ltd. is looking for a Transport Manager to support the management of Company's plant & vehicle servicing, ensuring that all reported defects are rectified in line with company's and VOSA's standards of repairs. Support the Fleet Manager with ensuring that all company vehicles are serviced, safety inspected and MOT'd at their agreed intervals in Act as main contact for contracts to ensure fleet needs are met and driver compliance is maintained.

 

Key Responsibilities of the Transport Manager Role:

  • Ensure full compliance with the company’s O Licence undertakings.
  • Support the management of all aspects relating to the servicing and repairs of company vehicles. Help ensure that all reported defects are assessed and repaired where necessary in order to maintain roadworthiness of all company vehicles. Support the Fleet manager with ensuring that all breakdowns are dealt with and recorded in a timely manner.
  • Ensure that vehicle files are maintained in full, Operator Licensed vehicle files must contain PMI's, Evidence of defect rectifications, service history, Maintenance contract (where applicable) and any other paperwork that relates to the safe upkeep, identity, maintenance and roadworthiness of the vehicle. Planning systems to be maintained in full showing PMI, Tacho calibration and MOT due dates, such dates to be highlighted when works are fully completed.
  • Carry out overloading and maintenance compliance checks in various depots throughout the company.
  • Notify Line Manager of any VOSA, other authorities, equipment or any other non-compliance. Do not walk by.
  • Maximise utilisation of company assets by identifying opportunities to reallocate, off hire and share assets
  • Hiring new assets where required and ensuring upon delivery they have everything required as per company spec.
  • Ensure good communication / feedback is always maintained when dealing with customers, VOSA or any other site or depot duties.
  • Ensure that all vehicles are signed out and Tacho cards are downloaded on a daily basis, vehicle keys are correctly stored and secured at all times and all paperwork in relation to vehicles is dealt with and recorded as per VOSA and company expectations.
  • Ensure that all fire points, emergency exits and escape routes are maintained at all times. Ensure that personnel under your supervision are fully aware of such areas and are aware of the fire procedures.
  • Ensure good housekeeping in office and workshop areas. All walkways are to be kept clear at all times. Work stations or other work areas used must be kept clean at all times, rubbish to be disposed of immediately.

Safety:

  • Health and Safety is paramount to all parts of the working area therefore depot rules and procedures are to be adhered to in full at all times; copies to be displayed on notice boards at all times.
  • Specified PPE must be worn at all times throughout the depot, workshop and on site.
  • It is your duty of care to lead by good example in working safely, quality of work, attitude towards work and management and the wearing of PPE for which high standards are expected at all times.
  • Ensure that all personnel, or visitors planning on carrying out work have been inducted.
  • Ensure that all accidents and near misses are reported in accordance with company procedures.

Environmental:

  • Ensure that waste management procedures are adhered to, i.e. Waste metals, waste paints, timber & general waste are disposed off in their proper waste containers or skips.
  • Ensure that environmental consents are adhered to, ensuring no oils, gases, paints or chemicals enter watercourses, sewers or drains.
