24hr approach
SQS project managed these road works on behalf of Ringway. This large junction refurbishment sited at College Road, Cheshunt junction of the A10 comprised of 10,000m2 of carriageway re-surfacing completed throughout both day and night hours, signal installation consisting of a complete new ducting network, signal heads across the entry of all four junctions and footway reconstruction with drainage throughout.
An innovative approach
The £400k refurbishment at the junction of Cambridge Road and College Road involved the changing of all the existing traffic signalling equipment. This was achieved by lowering the traffic signal heads, providing wireless vehicle detection technology and the alterations to the illuminated bollards. Finally, total re-surfacing of the area. This particular restoration being the first of its kind in Herfordshire.
Completed ahead of schedule
This scheme was originally planned as an eight week programme, however SQS successfully completed these works within a seven week period despite unknown events that arose during this construction. This large major route into London was also coordinated under single lane and at times full road closure to minimise any disruption to the general public whenever possible.
