Speedy repair impresses F1 team

SQS completed a challenging reinstatement on the A320 in Surrey after a water main burst, and received great feedback from the McLaren Forumla 1 team whose headquarters is nearby. The McLaren team wrote to say:

“The road was reopened a few minutes ago, a truly monumental effort. We would be grateful if you could pass our thanks to the staff responsible for carrying out the repairs, and our recognition that they performed in a style worthy of a Formula 1 team”.

Consequential damage repairs

SQS has extensive experience of dealing with reinstatement following large water mains bursts, and has been providing a 24hr / 7 day a week service to the water sector since 2004. We work directly with water companies, or in partnership with their framework contractors, to deliver a reliable and fast-track response to reinstate roads and footways after mains water bursts with our consequential damage service.

Customer impact

Affinity Water had been suffering from major bursts on its water mains under the busy A320 commuter route in Surrey for a number of years. This not only impacted on commuters and drivers but also on local schools and businesses. Following a burst the road could be closed for several days whilst repairs and reinstatement were undertaken, causing frustration to the customers and businesses affected.

High performance

Affinity Water turned to SQS to provide a high-quality permanent reinstatement service for these types of events. The ability of SQS to deliver an exceptional performance that significantly reduced road closure times was recognised by The McLaren F1 team as well as Affinity Water, who also saw a positive impact on reputation through enhanced media coverage.
